This thread reminds me of the same shit happening in Hill Country in 1994, the roofers swarmed the area after a massive hailstorm, you could go out to Lake Whitney and many of the campsites were occupied by people with trucks covered in magnetic roofing ads. there would be several at each campsite, with hammocks and tents everywhere.

Lot of scumbags in the industry for sure. Was talking with a board member yesterday who, two years ago, had a contractor collect half up front and never come back. Can't stand people like that, which is why I try to get people to not deal with the door knockers...

It's not finished yet, mainly because I suck at the internet, but I could still use the clicks...

Lol, I had a couple call me to put a bid on the top out and fixture set of a new house when the 'plumber' that roughed it in never came back. It turned out that the 'plumber' only stuck copper and PVC risers in the dirt, he didn't actually install anything below the dirt pad, and since this was in a rural area, there was no test or inspection. I had to saw-cut the foundation all to shit on a new two-story home.

That happened to my dad back in 07 when that storm hit Lewisville. But luckily it wasn't for the normal 50% down, it was only for a Grand. The guy never showed back up after he had about 2 sqaures of shingles dropped off and that was the last we heard from him. He scamed about 3 other people in the neighbore hood the same way. So watch out for those guys. I was able to put a roof on his house but I didn't make shit off of it but it was my pops so it didn't matter.

This is why you never trust a door knocker and go with some one who has been around for at least 15 years. I have trust issues, and if you are under 15 years old, you better come highly recommended.

Stuff like that I totally support. My outlook is if you have insurance, you should not be able to access any grants or the like.
I have mixed emotions on that. If you do the right thing, you pay your taxes, have insurance on your house, you cant get help? 1% deductible can be money people just dont have. Now others who dont want to have insurance and dont pay for it can ride the backs of others. This reminds me of healthcare
