  • What I have NOT been working on...

Ok, after prodding by Keith and Charlie, I'm posting what I'm not working on. It's the first big project in years that I'm paying someone else to do something like this, instead of doing it myself. They can do it in 1.5 days, and it would take me weeks. The stones are Austin stone/chalk, and are much whiter than they appear here.

And here is why we got a different stone to replace these:

They are supposed to be finished tomorrow. We've been waiting to get this done for about 2 years.

      I'll add more pics tomorrow.

Looks good. I don't blame you a bit for having someone else install it.

Looks good. Just make sure that your actual beds don't go above the foundation.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

It looks great, but I'd be paranoid of some possible issues with them being so high. Probably nothing to worry about, but I can foresee some issues. The top set being broke in a few years for one.

It does look good though and I guess you can repair/maintain it, quicker once it's done.

looks good, definitely better paying someone that's done it before...but i don't see any openings for drainage.

The beds are actually low, but the height of the stone is a bit higher than we expected. The 4" stone looked too short and the 6" looked correct, but I did not think the would put that much mortar between and start at the height they did. The neighbors to our East have them as high as ours, and the a brick cap.

They warranty their work, but there is a reason we initially had he huge, thick 6x8x18 cut stone before, it just sucked because it needs to be sealed.

Thanks all. I'm a bit concerned on the drainage as well, but the house sheds water to the side and back, very little up front because of the roof design.

Think optimistic, if you ever want a koi pond in your front yard, you only have to make one more wall to close it off.

It looks good. It's going to be a bitch to work on the bed from the outside though.

                    Progress, but no closure...

They got some more done today, another pallet of "Silver Mist Rattelsnake" 6" stone. That makes a little over 3 pallets so far.

The higher wall along the main entry walk was supposed to be jst 2 rows, not 4, but after seeing it go up, I think it's a good mistake. It is "massive".

It's now supposed to be finished Monday.

Flood the porch with a water hose and see how it drains.

It has drains cut into the low spot in the front corner....by design. It has more than the last one that I built, and this one gets much less water. Gutters are coming, probably next summer. They are mainly for the back, but there are two spots on the front where they wash more than I want. I wish I had an underground tank to hold the water.

I know that our porch has a few spots that holds.

                          I second the storage tank.

Looks real good. Now get them in the backyard so you can get the patio started.
