Be careful not to screw up slopes and other things important for drainage. Seems simple, but it's really just simple to screw it up.

put down a good dose (more than recomended) of Scott's weed and feed, water it in, wait 2 weeks for weeds to die off. Then spray miracle grow from the hose feeder, mow HIGH and your bermuda will choke out 95% of the weeds from then on. Mowing it high allows the root base to thrive and hold more water. You can use weed n feed 2-3 times a season. My yard already looks good and I didn't use a pre-emergent this time.

If you like a shorter bermuda tho, will it stay as green? Seems like if I let it grow a little too much, then mow, it looses too much green. I want green, wife likes it shorter. I

        Sorry for the thread hijack!

The only time mine gets as green as my Dad's yard is when it's long, and long overdue for a mow. He keeps his short, and it's as green as can be.

never use more than the recommended rate......its there for a reason its there, pre emergence will stunt the growth of the plant also.....theres a reason products get taken off of the market, because of over use and not using the recommended rates

u want to take off no more than 1/3 of the leaf, to keep it shorter you need to mow more often, i mow 3 times per week on some places to keep them short enough for the customer, also use an extrememly slow 70% or better slow release fert. during the growing season, so you dont have extreme growth

No trees, small yard and I guess I'll go with at. Augustine. I tossed a few pieces of sod that my neighbor gave me in random places in my yard and they branched out like crazy. You can't really notice it though...

spray existing "lawn" with round up or anykind of all purpose killer, drag with spike mat or something to just rough up the top of the ground, rake smooth, removing excess foliage (dead weeds, grass, etc..) roll the ground smooth, lay sod, apply a starter fert. 18-24-12, 12-24-18, something along those lines, DO NOT apply a pre emergent when laying new sod, you will just have to deal with any weeds for the first month or so, then you can get to work on weeds, but most important for the grass to get established first, before applying and type of weed control

I keep my weeds mowed short so it looks nice as you drive up. Once out of the car, its visible its weeds lol.

Its a rent house, I dont care. I did enough work in the yard tearing up the old "duck pond" a previous renter built that became a mosquito breeding pool

I use greenmax to keep my bermuda dark green. I mow it high and it's as healthy as it can be.
