My house has about the cheapest fence the home builders could buy. The upper cross brace (goes between posts so whatever that's called) is rotted and has the fence boards pulling away. What is the best was to replace that piece of wood? It's on my neighbor's side and I don't care how it looks. Also, this is a rent house so if someone wants to take the job, let me know and I'll try to get my landlord to buy off on it. Last crew to repair the fence did a shitty, shitty job.

If the fence poles are every 6ft then you can get cheap fence panels already assembled. Just tear down whatever is messed up in 6ft intervals and install a panel. Real easy. If the fence poles are wood and are messed up or leaning and need replacing then it gets harder.

What sucks is 9 times out of ten those wooden fence posts are not in THAT bad of shape. They just sink them so shallow and they seem too short.
Aren't those 2x3s used as the brace? Bigger than a 1x2 I know and smaller than a 2x4.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Ya, it is just the 2x3 cross brace that's all rotted out. The post (for the most part) are good and so are the panels. I know I can buy a 2x4 for a couple bucks and already have nails. Should I just leave the existing brace in there and add on the new piece? Sounds ghetto but IMO would work.

I had a back neighbor replace a section of his fence and when he tied into my fence he did this jerry-rigging crap.
