  • Rhino liner garage floor epoxy kit

Costco has a pretty good discount on the epoxy garage floor kit. I was thinking about trying it, but cant find any reviews online. Anybody ever tried it?

    Go here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/

I can't guarantee that you will find reviews on the Rhino Liner epoxy, but I can guarantee that you will find a product that does work.

Yeah those guys in that forums are awesome. They are the reason I am not going with Epoxy, but instead black/red or grey/red VCT tile in my new houses' garage. Checkerboard ftw!

Hmmm, what is this VCT tile you speak of, and where can you get it? I will look into this as well.

EDIT: After looking through/reading some of the comments regarding VCT tile, I am not sure I would do it. It looks badass, the checker is very cool, but most of the guys in there say its not good for actually working on. Have you read much about that?

From everything I've read the tiles are great for a garage that won't have any work done in it. I was considering the VCT in my garage but never went through with it. I went through a million threads (it felt like that many) on Garage Journal over the past few years.

That is what all I have read so far. It doesnt do well with any thing slightly heavy on it. It looks awesome, but is not practical for my needs.

My buddy has the VCT in his shop and we have pulled motors, trannys, it's been worked on to say the least. The only complaints are: 1) dry sweep doesn't work 2) the "green stuff" works okay, but not great and 3) after leaving my car parked on it for several month, rear end jacked up and fronts on the ground, it "slid" one of the tiles out of it's spot. Easy fix, pull it up and put a new one down. Not sure of cost vs. epoxy, but if you can't do the epoxy and don't want all the hours of prep work it takes, it may be a good way for you to go.

Hmmm, good to know Beary. I guess it just varies from each person. I still may give it a try. I am not 100% sold on anything, so who knows.

Sorry, I "zoned out" of this thread. Anyways, I have read a few things about VCT. My garage will not have a lot of work done in it since my Dad is 5 miles away and has a 3 ton hydraulic lift in his 30 foot tall garage. VCT and paint is going in my garage to make it pretty, that is about it.

Having said that, if you prep it right, do the glue right and then roll the tiles using a rented tile roller AND DONT DRIVE ON IT for 48 - 72 hours, the VCT will take a beating. It's why they use it in grocery stores. I am going to go a step further and seal mine with a floor clear coat (some say don't as it makes it slippery...but I live dangerously)
