Best place to get some wood for furniture?

Looking to get back into a little woodworking since it's been awhile and I've got some time off before my new job starts. Do ya'll know anywhere that has some good deals rather than getting than just going the home depot or average lumber yard route? I don't need anything exotic, just something simple like walnut or english oak.

Sometimes cabinet shops will sell you some of their stock but I'd imagine it will be a little more expensive that going through one of the big box stores. That said, they will likely have a few more species to choose from for wood working. If they won't sell you any they normally will tell you where they get their stock from and that should get you in the right direction.
