        If they are the anti-siphon type which is common on any home built in the last 15yrs the insulation covers aren't really needed.

        Main thing is to disconnect the water hoses from the spigots to prevent water in the hose from freezing and expanding into the spigot. This is the leading cause of the faucets freezing and causing damages.

        The big box stores sell them cause everyone thinks they need them. They'd sell you dog sh*t insulation blankets if enough people ask for them.

          I've lived in Texas since '85 and never covered my faucets, never had a line break either. Grew up in Colorado and my parents never used any covers, never had a line break.
