Do you have a recommended pre-emergent?

I used that word because every situation is different , just didn't want to get blamed if information was given wrong (ie grass type , location etc) .

I use to fight the good fight against weeds on my lawn. Never ending battle. I bought & applied every kind of weed killer from Home Depot. Sure enough, I had weeds return every season.

Now I let Gro Green handle it. Yeah, I pay to have it done, and I don't feel bad about it. They do it all. I've been weed free for 3 years.

pendulum, pendemethanlin, barricade or evade (active ingredient is prodamine), i use the evade and i do a split application, 1/2 now and half in about 6 weeks, the pendi has a tendency to stain everything although there is an improved version

understood, thats why i never even brought it up, its too easy for someone to see "spray roundup" and run out and do it, and in all honest, theres no need unless you have grassy and broadleaf weeds, a mild post emergence weed killer will handle 99% of whats growing right now

not sure where the john deere store is around there , but i know there is one, also one in benbrook.......home depot used to carry a lesco ( now john deere landscapes) 0-0-7 with pendi or a 25-2-5 with pendi, not sure if they still do or not, and if they carry a scotts product with pre emergence they are always good products

mike, check at home depot, the used to carry a 0-0-7 with pendi from lesco, any scotts products with a pre emergent will be fine also,

OK, will do. I have the Lesco spreader, what settings do you use for application?

Also, I am interested in lime application. Trugreen had suggested this in their inital evaluation to bring soil PH in balance. You dont hear about homeowners doing this. What is the real benefit to this?

the setting is on the back of the lesco bag, be benefit to proper soil ph is so that the nutrients dont all get tied up in the soil and not allowed to be taken in by the plant ( this is the reason i spray), it will take up a percentage of the nutrients it just depends on the soil conditions...now , with that said, i didnt apply lime to lower the ph to my customers lawns, simply because most of them water from the lake and with the high salt content make our soil ph here pretty high some are around 7.8, it would take alot of lime on the size lawns we care for and more than just one app ( i assume) to get the soil to 6ish and keep it there so i worked around it with spray.
this will have zero affect on the pre emergence control though, the preemerge, once watered in forms a barrier on the soil surface to keep weeds from emerging.
and for bermuda grass its not a great problem either, mostly in st. augustine lawns is where you will find the nutrient defiency with ph problems
