I sprayed mine 2 weeks ago. I had no green then (besides weeds) nor do I now. I just need to mow once, dethatch, pre-emergent, and then aerate and feed when the bermuda becomes active --- all to watch it die this summer when we go to level 4 water restrictions.

i thought about it but sprayed celcius instead, was just leary of the green on the lower cut lawns, plus these are customers so if i make a mistake and kill one i'd probably wipe them all out to i go with caution when using or telling someone to use roundup, so i just put out the pre and post together and the 2nd half of pre will go down with 1st fert app in march

Good approach with income on the line. I've seen many people wait too late to spray RoundUp and then they have problems.

Me too, just make sure it has at least 40 percent glyphosate . You can get Ortho Total Kill and it has 41 percent @ half the cost of Round Up.

I use the ortho weed b gone that you hook to the end of the hose. Spray my whole lawn heavily with it. then use scotts max green when the grass starts to green up with the warmer weather. Water couple 2-3 times a week and had great success last year.

So if I dont have any green Bermuda (and I dont think i do) I can safely spray my sea of purple henbit with Roundup?

"shouldnt" is a big word, temps near 80 today, my greens are green, and it aint the paint causing it.....the problem isnt spraying green bermuda, the problem is spraying bermuda coming out of dormancy because of the unseasonalby warm temps only to have the grass take up the poison then have a hard freeze, thats what will kill the grass, because it has been weakened by the herbicide then gets an additional knock because of the freeze, thats what can cause the kill, go to home depot and get some weed killer for henbit , i guess weed b gone is labeled for it, i dont know, but why take the chance

The henbit has taken over the back of our lot and most of the front. It is out of control and I feel like I need to do something. I have never seen anything like it. I sodded nearly 20k sq ft when we bought this place and I surely want to avoid any unintentional damage.

when did you lay the sod? the henbit is not going to hurt anything, it may look ugly.......ok just looked up the weed b gone label and it is good for killing henbit, so i'd go that route if it were me. but it still needs to be warm enough to work and with temps in the mid to upper 70's should get you some kill

Sod laid two years ago, should be established. We have had issues with weed control but nothing like this.

are you putting out a fall/winter pre emergent?

admittedly no. In the past, I have not seen it make any difference. I am open to suggestions on effective weed control that works.

like i said earlier, weeds or not, its time to put down a spring/summer pre emergent for crabgrass, goosegrass etc.., with some warm temps go ahead and shoot some weed b gone, but definately put down a pre emerge for what is still to come, ground temps are up early this year so the sooner the better
