  • Laminate Flooring Project

I picked up 850 Sqft of Laminate Wood from lumber liquidators on sale at the end of last year and I'm finally making some progress on installing it.

I went with the 12mm, so far I've learned a few lessons and getting better at putting it in. Over all it is fairly easy. Doing it by yourself is a pretty good work out though.
From inspiration to installation, get the floors you’ll love at LL Flooring (formerly Lumber Liquidators). We have a team of flooring experts to help you every step of the way. Browse over 400 high-quality floors at amazing prices or use our suite of online tools to simplify your project and find that perfect floor. Complete the job with the matching moldings and accessories or have it installed. Wherever you are in your project, we're here to help.

Started with my office/Gun room, figure that was a good place to make mistakes to learn from.

On sunday I started my dinning room, when I'm done it will be in the Dinning, Living Room, Hallway and Office.

I've installed it a couple of times. It's not bad once you get started. Half the battle is just trying to plan out problem spots and figuring out the best way to approach it without excessively wasting product. Curious though why you didn't install the flooring the opposite direction in your gun room. That is normally what looks best and gives the room the feel of being a little larger. It does look go so far, I like the darker color.

I went that way in the gun room so all the wood in the house would be going the same direction. It would have been easier to go the other way because of where the closet is, but that is the direction I wanted it going in all the other areas.

Talk about coincidence. The Vintner's Reserve is the same thing we grabbed a sample of when we were there on Monday. I'm pretty sure it's what we're going to go with. What are your thoughts about it so far? Got any high res pics you could share? I need to show this to the Mrs.

So far I am extremely happy with the results, I have been staring at this flooring online for well over a year and when it went on sale in Dec. for $1.99 I couldn't resist. I've got a friend who has had it in his house for about a year without any issues. If you do decide on it, be prepared when you pick it up, it is some heavy stuff, I bought 40 boxes and it swatted my 3/4 ton past level. I wish I had some better pictures, but I don't even own a camera besides my phone.

Also make sure and buy the underlay plastic at lumber liquidators they are half the price of Lowes. I decided not to get it while I was there and now I wish I would have(closest Lumber Liquidators is 100 miles from my house).

There was 30 boxes on the pallet and another 10 stacked under the toolbox and in the back seat.

Cool. What are your thoughts on the quality of the attached pad and the level of sound (or lack thereof) the floor puts out?

The floor feels very solid and is not hollow sounding like some can be.

Very nice work sir. I have done two installs (my own house and my cousins house) and I feel your pain on the trial and error. But man it turns a house around. Your house is looking very nice!

Quick questions, I like the fact it is 12mm, did they have any of that it in near black/dark brown?

Nice. We replaced our whole house with laminate, it was a workout and there was a group of us doing it too.

How many other places did you look at before going to Lumber Liquidators?

My friend is looking for some hand scraped hardwood("5 width) for a house he is moving into next month. If any of you guys have any places that he should check out in the Dallas area, let me know so i can tell him.

I priced it at HD and Lowes, for what I was wanting lumber liquidators price couldn't be beat. I also had two friends with LL floors and was satisfied with how they looked.

IHAVEAMUSTANG, I really don't know what else they had, I got mine in Lubbock not DFW.

I put laminate down in my house and hate it! My big problem I believe was I didnt float the floor. I checked it in a bunch of spots with a long level to make sure I didnt see any dips but I guess I missed some. There are soft spots in a couple places. I cant stand the laminate itself though, I just prefer carpet. My oldest son has bad allergies so that is why I did it and it helped ALOT.

Yours looks great though, good job on the install.
