That paint on the shingles will be gone after a couple rains, Im not worried about it. That cap looks alot worse in the pics than in person!

I was telling my kids about the cap being hit like something ran into it and my son told me that he saw a bid run right into it a long time ago. Said it was dead on impact.

LMAO! It was a 2R C 1, Repairs not needed to prevent loss. We observed two improperly installed vent boots on the rear slope with deteriorated siding on the chimney, which could result in water damage to the interior of the dwelling.

Ahhh, the good old insurance inspection days!

What I'm going to do ultimately is have a smaller scale wind generate as well as a large array of solar panels to hopefully completely remove the need for grid power.

On that link, is that 1.4kWh per shingle per day? But no, my roof is standard builder grade, nothing out of the ordinary that I'm aware of. Options?

Would you be able to also hook up everything to the battery storage, etc?

Have you looked into a solar generator as well? Just in case you haven't here's a link, I wouldn't mind getting one in the near future.
Just checked the site, looks like they've been busy and added a few more. Before it was just the 1,800w solas generator, but now they're making some bigger one's.
Things aren't cheap by any means.

$7k is cheap. However, their biggest model can only supply 1800 watts, and up to 25% of what the normal house uses in kWh of electricity, according to their video. It's cheap because it doesn't have the capability to supply on demand for larger wattage. That system is really designed for backup purposes when the power company's grid is down. There are much better systems on the market that can keep up with ALL your homes kWh needs.

Ever heard of a wind farm? Some people call them wind turbines. They are widely used across the country. They're getting real popular for residential use and there are several companies that make small condensed versions of the type that are on the wind farms. The larger residential models are capable of generating enough power to be completely off the grid(1500-1800kWh), but those are not small. The one I'm looking for is on the small size and will generate in the ballpark of 400 kWh per month(pending wind conditions).

I saw one on tv that was shaped like a vertical "squirrel cage" fan, like a blower fan on an AC system. It supposedly takes up less space in your yard and doesn't make the high-pitch noise that a big mast mounted wind turbine makes. However, I can't find any info on them. Does anyone know what it is called?

Starting to get some feedback from Certainteed on these solar systems guys. So far we need a south facing slope, free from shad from 9a-3p.
