    Got it, I stand corrected.

No biggie, just hate hearing heat pumps get slammed. They started out with a great idea, the manufacturers just didn't have the electronics needed to make things reliable back then, that's why heat pumps have such a horrible reputation. The new stuff, especially anything made by your major players within the last five or so years is excellent stuff, with both reliability and efficiency.

Yeah, my last one was circa 1992.

I am a fan of heatpumps as well but there a few things that are note worthy about them. At much lower temps 10* and lower they arent as efficient at being able to pull heat out of the cold air. In such cases the aux heat is there to take over. In moderate regions where the climate is usually above that I think they are ideal.

One other thing someone mentioned to me recently that I had not considered is that heatpump compressors tend to wear out sooner. Since the compressor cycles year round, their service life is shorter and the money you save is usually spent later when the unit fails. I dont know about that but its a thought. At my old place plenty of homeowners still running their old conventional AC systems. Those typically are older lower-end Janitrol units that are still going and are over 20 years old now. Not efficient but they do have a good service life if maintained.

On the heating side though they're fine in my experience.
What a fucking retard. That is the dumbest thing to yet come out of ur mouth. Heat pumps are not efficient in the winter below freezing temperatures. Stick with flipping burgers.
