  • Solutions for Clean Gutters?

Just curious what products some of you guys are using to keep leaves and debris out of your gutters. I currently have the plastic grates that slide up under the shingles and then snap to the front lip of the gutter. Last night I started hanging Christmas lights and found out that my hanging method wouldn't work with the gutter grates in place and most of them were cracked or broken and weren't doing their job in the first place, so I yanked them.

I'll more than likely be doing lights every year, so I want to be able to retain the ability to clip them to the front lip of the gutter. I've seen what looks like a foam insert that fills most of the gutter cavity and lets the water seep through, blocking out larger debris. Anyone use these or know if they work worth a damn?

If I lived on a heavily wooded lot then I would look into Leaf Guard brand gutters. Either that or get up there a couple of times a year with a garden hose.

They make an aluminum, hinged version like the plastic ones you already have. They run roughly $11 for a pack of five 36" pieces at Lowes.

I installed some metal ones just like the plastic style at the moms house. They slide under the shingles then have metal clips to clip to the gutter. I was still able to hang lights with out removing them.

Mom only shops at home depot and she bought them

I'll be looking in to both of these. Thanks.

I'm sure it's the same thing, I work at Lowes so I just know the price for the ones sold there.

If you have that many leaves on your roof, you need to trim some dang trees. Great looking product though.
