  • Fort Worth - Free New Toilet(s) for 1994 and older home or business

Not a lot of people pay any attention to the flyers in the Water Bill but I found this offer in mine and figured some of you might need or know someone who could use a new one.

    Go to: www.savefortworthwater.org

    Qualifications

Own or rent a home that was built before 1994. Renters must also complete and submit the Landlord Consent Form with their application.
Have an existing toilet manufactured before 1994 that uses at least three gallons of water per flush. (Check to see if your toilet qualifies.)
Agree to install toilet within 30 days and follow proper disposal methods.

Applications are available at all Water Department pay locations, and area libraries.

    Apply Online
Download an application and mail supporting documentation (i.e., Landlord Consent Form or doctor's authorization for handicap toilets).

If you are approved, you will be mailed a voucher to pick up your free toilet. Vouchers are valid for 30 days and toilet(s) must be installed within 30 days of pick-up. Customers are responsible for all installation expenses.

For more information, give us a call at 817.392.8740 or view our Frequently Asked Questions.

Toilets are issued until budgeted funds are depleted.
Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.

    SmartFlush: Save with every flush

Through the SmartFlush Toilet Program, qualifying residential customers can receive up to two free, dual flush ultra-high efficiency toilets. The toilets offered through this program have been tested for efficiency and performance and carry the WaterSense label.

    Residential Programs:
Voucher Program: Open to all Fort Worth water customers who meet the minimum requirements.
CARE Program: For elderly customers at least age 70 OR qualifying low-income customers who meet the income guidelines.

    Commercial Program
Our commercial program provides tank, floor-mount toilets for qualifying customers.

I got two of them from the city a couple of years ago. They were completely free - they even came with the bolts and the seal. All I had to go pick them up at the plumbing supply (an put them in). They work great, and I save about $5.00 a month on my water bill.

sounds great but I prefer old toilets... this "green" movement sucks. I want flushing power. I heard on the radio the other day they are pushing for 1.2gal toilets

I wondered about the low flush - in fact I saved the old toilets in the shed for a while just in case. But I've have no problems to date vs constant problems with the old "high flow" ones.

I actually think the newer toilets work better for flushing power. My house was built in '86 and the back bathroom has the original toilet and it sometimes takes 2 flushes for solid waste. The front bathroom, I replaced the toilet about 5 years ago and that sucker never needs more than one flush.

I wonder if Arlington offers this? I need to replace that back toilet eventually. Toilets are pretty cheap anyway but nothing beats free

**EDIT** Arlington does offer it also but they already reached their max for this go around. You can sign up if you want to be notified next time though. http://www.arlingtontx.gov/water/toilets.html

**EDIT 2** Arlington sucks, fine print says - A plumbing permit is required to replace the older toilet. The permit is covered under the program and must be obtained prior to replacing the toilet. Final details will be provided with the toilet pick-up.
