  • driveway/concrete question

What would be a easy solution to a slope in a driveway? Its at the end, about 5' from the street. It separates there and has a dip, down then up to the street, and its getting deeper. Cars that didn't drag before are starting to hit.

I was wondering if you could raise it?? Is this possible? Or are we talking re-construct? Maybe add an asphalt layer?

There is no cub to the asphalt street, and the ground is pretty soft, as it is a natural drainage. Its about a 9' wide concrete slab, and it widens gradually for that 5' to the street. I could even shave some of the asphalt that's building up there, as long as the city didn't mind. The street is cracking up nicely. The ground has really moved this past year.

Id reslab that section.. Bonding new concrete on old concrete is a mess (especially when you pour it thin). Id just do it right the first time...break up the old stuff and put in a new end of teh driveway. Most concrete can be driven on the next day or day after now a days.

Well crappolla. Might as well re-pave the whole damn thing. I guess I'll research concrete prices. That doesn't seem like an easy fix, sounds expensive.

Would that be a time when mudjacking comes into play?

          ??What is mudjacking??

I thought that it may be possible to lift it a little, but I wasn't sure.

I googled it, some pretty cool things to watch. There is another thread in this forum about it.

Adding asphalt is a solution. Another is cut/replace. Just had some kind of expansion joint against the existing concrete and pour. Also be a good thing to dial into the old concrete to reinenforce the new concrete with the old one. Permits permits
