Garage door insulation

I should have been more clear. I didn't use a separate foil. I used the foil backed foam. It's foil on one side, and white on the other, with lettering in dark blue. Bought it at HD. They also had some other stuff that was not foil backed, and the foam itself was blue.


If you look at a cross section of my garage door, going from "outside" (driveway side) ---> inside.... it's aluminum door, foil, foam, foam, foil. Like I said, I've got two pieces of foil backed foam board in each panel. 3/4" closest to the outside, 1/2" closest to the inside of the garage.

I used foil tape for appearance only. My door is white, and with the foil facing in, it looked funny. I only used foil tape to match the foil/silver appearance.

I'm doing mine tomorrow after the Dyno Day at TS. Already have the foil, just picked up that door kit from HD since Lowes didn't have any.

You will like it.... Just from short time I have had mine in it is nice. Weirdest thing for me is it cuts down street noise. My wife likes it cause the garage is not so cold when I let her off sammich making duties.

I did half today. Will finish up tomorrow. Turning out pretty good. Might be a little overkill with the reflective foam, but oh well.
