How much does foundation repair usually run i've heard a lot of different answers...
How F'ed up is the foundation? What's the cause of the foundation failure and what is it going to take to correct that problem's'. Those are just a few things that you need the answer to.
A level? J/k... I've got some issues with mine as well and will go the route Brad suggested above. Thanks for the references.
In all seriousness, I've had two quotes on mine and both companies walked the perimeter of my house to look for cracks, then put a standard 4' level on the interior floor. For the exterior there is a way to use an engineering level by placing a piece of tape on the wall with a line drawn on it then raising it until all marks are at the same elevation. If anyone knows the particulars on how to set this up I'm curious myself.
I've heard Accurate Foundation Repair is cheap and does good work, Bedrock Foundation quoted me $800.00/pier - the salesman was professional and seemed legit, and from what I've been told Brown Foundation carries the best reputation - they literally invented the leveling methods - and you will pay for that reputation.

that's also the reason that 10 different foundation companies will give you ten different ways of fixing the issues. (not to say that the engineers won't do the same) robert (engineer) will come out with an electronic device (don't know what it's called) to come up with a reference point and measure every bit of your house. he'll show you on a blue print where the low/high points are and let you know how to fix it. once he gives you the sheet, you can have whoever you want bid on it, because it's an engineered drawing of piers and exactly what needs to be done. if i remember correctly, he charges somewhere around $350 for this, and it's well worth it.

I paid $6,000 for 12 piers earlier this year using Brown.
