  • Spray Foam Insulation?

I'm working on an add-on upstairs room in my house and before we put up sheetrock I want to get a quote on someone coming in and doing spray-foam insulation in some of the ceiling areas where there will be no attic space...and maybe even doing the inner walls as well. I've been hearing there is no beating the insulative quality of this stuff, but also how well it doubles as a sound deadener...which is important for this particular room.

Anyone know someone that specializes in foam insulation?

I see some DIY product applications of this type on one of the home shows (Disaster DIY?) It looks like it comes in two separate containers and they are fused at the gun? Maybe is licensed in the US? I think that DIY show is in Canada.

I just had my shop done a few weeks ago and they did a good job and had great prices. I can get you their name and number if you'd like to give them a call. they came out and quoted me for 1" and ended up giving me 2" on the roof. I'm in Denton County too so definitely in your territory.

I had it done on my 1200 sg ft addition and it is amazing how well it works.

He sprayed 3.5" in the exterior walls and 6" on the roof. I think it was abot $3600.

This is an example of the home show kits. Does 600 sqft but even so is still $600. At 1$/sqft will still take awhile to recoup the cost. It has an Rvalue of 7.12 per inch and typical application is 1" thick. I think my exterior wall foam thickness is over 2-3" thick.

Makes me wonder if you could just install one or two layers of the foam board with foil back and come out cheaper? I think they are what, around $8-10 for a 4x8 sheet (32sqft)?

Looks like a good price. How thick did they caclutate the 600 sg ft to be?

The foil back rigid board is $14 a sheet at Lowes. I actually used it on the outside between the OSB and HardieBoard. Even before we sprayed the foam on the inside, you could touch the inside of the wall after the sun had been shining on it all aday and it wouldn't be warm.
