I wished they would have done away with the box on the wall when they ran the electrical. It serves no purpose anymore.
The opening is for the gas tank for the firepit. I will build a frame and door for it later.
This was a last minute idea. It is going to be a bench/fire wood box. The backside against the flower bed will be closed in and the porch side it will be open for our firewood (inside fireplace and outside). It will also serve as a bench. The main purpose was to block the dogs from running through the flower bed getting on or off the porch.
Another last minute. I really like the way the pillar boot came out. I didn't want to spend all this money to have a galvanized pipe sticking up. I just wished they would have built it a little further towards the bib.
Mischa and Jett surveying the work. I hate how this crew leaves tools and material everywhere.
The sitting ledge and fire pit are going to be awesome. The wife and I are already looking forward to the cooler nights by a fire while the dogs run around the yard and we have a glass of wine.Last edited by KBScobravert; 10-03-2011, 02:34 AM.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

It took a crew of 6-7 a solid 4 hours start to finish and they were some hard working guys. If I tried that it would have taken me a week.
It really has been worth paying them to do the job.
My patio is only going to be about half that. Also I have no need to make mine that thick, 4 inch is all I need here in Ks. We have a partial stamped patio already, so I will be adding on about 2x the area. I may bring in someone to build the firepit/sitting ledge for peace of mind, but I enjoy trying new things. I also have a great group of friends around here and one of them worked for his uncle, a mason, for 5+ years.
Doing it all myself I will be in it for less than $1500 probably figuring $150/yd of concrete. I look forward to learning how to stamp and then color/seal it. Up here they want between $4-5k to do it all, and since my wife and I are full time students again, that's just not feasible. It will take a couple of weekends between the digging and forming, but then i can wait to build the seating ledge and pit. I would never attempt all that stone work you have w/ built in's and pillars though!
It's looking suhweet though, keep the updates coming and your head down over there. I know how much the middle east sucks.

The fire pit is almost all stoned in.

I am really pleased with the stone work. For the most part it is done. They still need to come out and do a clean up, seal the stone walls, tops and the patio and put some of the landscape back.
For a last minute idea of a firewood box/bench, it came out pretty nice. I like it.
They did not give me as much of a overhang on the side and back as they did on the front (Right in the pic). I am going to call and see if they can pull up the top and go bigger.
The water bib came out a little to the left.
The fire pit and sitting ledge look great. The pit is plumbed for gas and has a cut off valve built in but we have not decided on a fire kit yet.
They did not leave until almost 9pm tonight and the daylight pictures tomorrow are going to be great.Last edited by KBScobravert; 10-05-2011, 02:10 AM.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

That fire pit is too dang nice. I love it.\
The water bib is not an issue (as I see it) but I was surprised at the table top. I would definitely call too. There's just not enough room for an overhang when sitting on the yard side.\
Other than that, I think it's great - the whole thing!
Do you have any shots of the footer on the pit side?

BTW - I just received an email from Terri answering a couple questions I had. I asked one more and when she replies, I'll shoot you a pm.
