Wall Mount TV

Have a weird question here. I want to wall mount my TV on the wall that is above the fireplace opening? The stack of the fire place is behind this wall, obviously. Is it possible to mount here? Special hardware or mounting required as to not run through the brick of the fireplace?

i mounted ours right above our fireplace...i just used a typical wall mount with no problems at all... nothing special. we use our fireplace alot during the winter and have had no problems with heat to the back of the tv at all...

same here.. the hardest part was running the wires through the wall down beside the fireplace. we cut the hole in the sheetrock, then got a long drill bit and drilled through the 2x4 studs to the left
(note that our electronics are on the left of the fireplace)
