  • Giant cracks in yard

Every year my yard cracks but at the worst it a 1-2" crack. This year since its been so hot and dry some of the cracks have gotten 4" plus wide and 3 foot deep. I keep close to the foundation watered withe a soaker hose but its a 1/2 arce and not feasable for me to water the rest. Short of 40 days and nights of rain is here anything I can do?

I have a 1/2 acre lot as well and I've used a soker hose for a few weeks now. Really you're only option in this drought Some sprinklers will help out, but not much.

I am going to be bringing in dirt to attempt to fill some of my cracks in the yard. We have an acre and a half and this drought has not been gentle on my soil. Luckily we have lots of ground cover around the houseto keep the moisture in the soil and we have watered around the house frequently this summer. Next year a soaker system is getting installed that I can turn on and off at a bib.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

We are not on water restrictions yet in Cedar Hill and I have been doing my part to support the water dept. With a fully irrigated 1acre lot I am looking forward to Sept. Every year, temps drop dramatically the first week of September. At my old place it also marked the closing of the pool as the pool temps dropped off dramatically that week. I hope this year is no exception.

EDIT: We are in Stage 0 of water restrictions in Cedar Hill. My bad.

We are on water restrictions in Haslet. Our lot is fully irrigated too and their times for us to water SUCK.

I hope you are right about the Sept weather. I get home on the 6th and I am not looking forward to what you all are putting up with for the last 3 months.

I've got a 450ft deep well, and I've admittedly been neglecting my property this summer.

Today I soaked the hell out of as much of it as I could
