Texturing walls suck

Feel like I have been at this shit for hours (actually a whopping 2) and Im worn out. I only have 1/2 the bathroom done. Was troweling it on, now spraying then moving it around with the trowel...making ridges then knocking it down for the right texture. Any tips?

I agree, it sucks!

When I did it I used a texture roller, trying to move as quickly as possible to roll the entire wall, then going back and pulling it down.

I found the best combo for me was 3 parts texture and 1 part water. It was pretty thick, but when I pulled it down it looked the best.
