any small engine experts?

My craftsman weed wacker and blower both run like Shit. They will start but neither will run at full throttle, they die. Holding them at different angles seems to change how they run (sometimes better sometimes worse). I've given them both new spark plugs, and cleaned the air filters with no resolution. Also, After I use them for about 15 min, both will die on me and never start back up again. Wtf could be wrong?

Fuel lines good? Filter or carburetor gummed up? I'd check those next.
