I'm looking at having the laminate countertops in my kitchen replaced with some granite slabs. Has anyone had this done recently? I priced them about a year ago or so and it was around $40-45/sq. ft., but a coworker told me that the price has come way down since then. True? I've only got about 75sq ft to do, but it's a little bit elaborate around an island with a tall curb and ledge. Anyway, just wanted to see how prices were looking.

$35 or so for "builder selection" stuff (common colors/patterns), $200 for tear-out, and figure $250-$350 for an undermount sink (stainless sink and fabrication. Remember you'll need new plumbing fixtures, too. More than likely, you'll want to redo your backsplash also.

Shoot me a PM. That's in the price range I had heard from my buddy. I'm not REAL picky on the particular style as long as it looks fine.

Damn for those prices I may do my counter in the laundry room this winter. We did our kitchen counters August '09 and used some one from the other board HEDGIEsomething.
If I can find the guy I used for tile he was super cheap. $420 materials and labor to do roughly 60ft of tile backsplash. I remember the name CT or TC.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

This is the company that I used about 6-8 months ago...they offered just about any color in 3cm for 25/ft. Amy wanted Tropic Brown, which their supplier didn't have enough of, so I bought the slabs elsewhere and had them do the installation. They did undermount sinks in the restrooms and kitchen for pretty cheap too.
