  • sandy soil?

Ok so I have this patch of dirt that has gotten bigger and I have no clue how to treat it. Basically the grass refuses to grow on this big patch and the soil is very sandy. The rest of the soil is fine but I cant figure out how the soil became so sandy.

A buddy thought maybe grub worms so I dug some holes up and didnt find anything. Any other ideas of how I can treat it?

I think your issue is more of there's too much shade there from the dense tree. What way does the house face?

AFA the soil's sandy nature, till in some good rich gardening soil, the kind w/ dung in it, to make it real fertile.

Yeah that awful plum tree does cast a shadow right there too. House faces east and west btw.

I just found it weird that the patch right there is real fine sand instead of soil.

Went to home depot and one of the guys up there recommended I churn up the sand with some peat moss to help it retain water then hit it in the evening with some miracle grow spray stuff using the water hose. Ill try it out and see if it helps.

You're going to have to thin those trees to get anything growing there.

Yep I agree, I need to trim them. I want to cut down the plum tree that is causing that patch, that tree is ugly 11 1/2 months out of the year and for about 2 weeks in the spring it has white flowers all over it and looks nice. I almost cut it down yesterday but I dont want to mess with the stump right now.
