  • Saving the yard

We just moved in to a rent house about a month and a half ago. Either the owner or real estate company laid some sod in the front yard that hasn't exactly taken. I would like to start taking steps to improving the quality of the front yard. What can I do in this heat to help improve what is already there? Then, in the back yard, there are a lot of bare spots, and where there is grass, it is filled with stickers. What can I do in the back yard to start filling the bare spots and get rid of the stickers?

I'm not sure what kind of grass is growing in either location. I've never been good at identifying. I will get some pictures up this weekend.

Do you have pictures? I wouldn't do a lot in this heat besides just keep watering it. Are there actual dead spots? You may want to try thatching but I can't say without seeing what the grass looks like.

We were here for the first month and after calling them weekly to come put up smoke alarms, we finally did it ourself and sent them the receipts. We are actually hoping that the owner will sell near the end of our lease. I will get some pictures up in the next day or so. I'm on vacation next week
