  • HVAC automatic changeover thermostats

I'm thinking its time to replace my thermostat as it just doesnt seem to be accurAte and the display is wackedout.

One feature i want is the ability to set it and forget it, not having to switch it during the seasons and flip from heat to cool. Not a big deal now, but sping and fall can be annoying.

Anyone have a specific thermostat they like or any to avoid? I'd love to get nerdy and get one that can be pc/ipad controlled over the wireless, but thats an optional feature at best.

I would stay stick with one of the top two stats if you want accuracy and quality. Honeywell or White-Rodgers. the new ecobee has an iphone app but its pretty costly for that stat. if you are trying to get a good stat that holds temperature and stays accurate an easy way to tell is when you run the temp below or above the setpoint listen for the click. the better stats use relays for switching instead of triacs.

i have a carrier infinity system, and the infinity stat does that very well...i don't know if it works with other systems, though.

We had a Lennox dual stage system with all new ducts installed last year, which included a Comfort Sense 7000 thermostat. It's awesome and does everything I need it to do, including controlling humidity and is 7, 5, or 2 day programmable with leave, return and sleep settings. I'm not sure how much they cost seperately, but it's supposed to work with any system.

If nothing else, Honeywell has always been a great brand to go with.
