Yes I know there is a dead spot around my tree.. Was spraying grass killer before we laid the mulch and guess the wind blew some on the yard..

Been trying the past two summers to get it to this state.. Finally succeeded!! We just bought this house last June and the yard had gone to shit with it setting for 3 months empty and no one taking care of it..

I have st. Augustine and it is almost all dead and my question is should I water it every night for about 30 min or skip a day?

very nice yards. I'm not even going to post up my shit. Need to start taking pics of it now. Before really starting to work on it.

Its going to take awhile. Only planning on doing the front yard and maybe a small portion of the back yard.

Oh and no st. Augustine here, yard is alittle to big with no shade.

I water mine once a week for about 45 mins... I use a good scotts fertilizer and have had great luck even in shady areas.. If you over water, it will flood it and nothing will grow.. The recommended amount is 1 1/2 - 2 inches a week.. mine prollys gets 3/4 - 1 inch each week. Fertilize in the spring around end of march, again at the end of june-end of july ish depending on lawn conditions, then if you want a green winter lawn, again in late september.. Most fertilizers will feed for about 3 months...

In this heat we've been having you should be watering about 35-40 minutes twice a week.

Is having that gate nice, or does it get in the way. I am thinking about doing the same thing next time I get a new fence. We have a large lot with a huge yard on both sides of the house and wouldnt mind fencing in the whole thing, but a nice gate will be required. Didn't want to worry about the maintenance of that but I guess it won't get as worn out as an old apartment gate

I haven't had any issues other than adjusting it occasionally so there is no gap when it closes which takes all of 30 seconds.

The huge plus is the added extra space in the backyard without a fence around the driveway.

That is my reasoning for doing it. There is enough room between the houses for another house. Right now that area is just open. I would to have it added to my backyard.

This was just water, Bonus S, and pulling weeds. No sod was installed.

My lawn looked pretty good last summer, but this drought has made mine look like shit. What kind of fertilizer is everyone using? Will I see the effects with the heat and drought we're having or should I wait until we start to get some rain?

Tell me about it, we have the heat and are restricted to watering only 2 days a week. I'm not a yard person, but mine is looking even worse than normal lol.
