  • How the hell do you get a soap dish.....

    off of the shower wall?

My son dropped his back scrubber and it fell onto the soap dish exploding it like a bomb.

I can't have the kids use this bath/shower until I get it fixed, but how do you get the damn thing off the wall???

You don't know how to chizle my nizle?

But yeah, x2 on the hammer and chizle or a hammer and flat head screwdriver. All you need is one good hit and it should pop right off.

I just noticed that. Usually it is flush on the dry wall and not over tiles like that.

Probably is surface installed with liquid nails or similar. You can try taking a heat gun and heat up the inside and then carefully run a thin putty knife in between it and the tile.

I'm no expert, but I am paranoid about having to replace tile all the damned time.

I'd remove as much adhesive, caulk, grout as possible first. I'd also bust off some more of the dish to see what is actually holding it.

I'd probably use a plastic putty knife or something similar to try to chisel off the other parts of it - to avoid gouging and/or busting the tiles.

Also, the do sell some solvents that should help break down the stuff holding it on there. Once a good bond is on there to the tile, it can be tricky to properly remove it w/o damaging the stuff behind it. So, utilize any solvents you can find, use plastic where you can and be careful.

Patience is the name of the game there. Heating it will probably make whatever glue they used soft again. I bought several demo one piece toilets from the Contractor Supply in Mesquite before they closed. These were the cool low profile $400 Kohlers but had the lid glued down on them with liquid nails. I bought the lot of them for $25. The guys there were sure I would break the lids getting them off. One heat gun, a putty knife and about 45 minutes later, all were removed cleanly.

I've got a nice Milwaulkee heat gun and a putty knife, let me try this first.

If not, where are you located?

in Hurst by NE Mall. if it's too far, just go to oreillys and buy a can of 3m general adhesive remover. it's white/red can.. like 6 or 7 bucks for it. turn the fart fan on before you use it though

                        MOTHERFOKKER!

You guys know your shit. I used my Milwaulkee heat gun, chisle & hammer and it came right off. Now all I need to do is go get another one and put it back up.

It looks like they used some gray goop (might be liquid nails) and then used sealant around the part. Is the gray goop in the bottom left corner of the pic I posted liquid nails?

If so, I'll just grab a tube of it and some silicone caulk to make the fix.

                        Am I right???

Its tile glue. You can get it in a quart for pretty cheap. Sometimes you'll need to use tape to hold it in place till the glue dries.
