  • Fleas and Chiggers

Ok fleas and chiggers are starting to get bad in my back yard, besides sulfur pellets which gets rid of the chiggers, what can I do about fleas? My dog lives outside and he is on frontline, but I still find fleas on him!
    Wanna see my care face???

Throw your beer on him and tell him you're going to punch him in the throat if he doesn't shape up! That'll show'em!

He quoted me from an earlier post. Apparently he aspires to be like Mike.

+1 for lo3oz. I am not sure how you spell it but it is also referred to as DE. I found that Home Depot/Lowes didn't have it when I was looking and I had to go to a nursery of the sort.

Also, they don't sell DE specifically anymore they sell something very similar, a knock off or something. If you ask for Diatamateous Earth or DE they will still know what you're looking for though. Oh, and avoid windy days when spreading it.

Glad you brought this up. I was up for a while spraying those damn fles with Adams flea spray on my boxer. I hate these little @$#R$#@$. I sprayed a general yard bug killer but it does not seem to be working. I will give the DE variant a try.

What? Leslie's does, HD may not. It's relatively cheap. That, or Spectracide, or both will work. You need to keep the dog off the treated area for a bit if you use spectracide. I don't think DE will hurt a dog.

This is what I was told by a nursery in SL.

It is animal friendly - DE that is.

Make sure you get feed grade DE though. If it's not feed grade it's toxic. DE is also good for the animals because it's a great de-wormer.

Ok I spread out 2 bags of spectracide in my back yard and 1 bag in the front yard, watered both! Now how long should it take for me to notice results?
