  • What Kind of Weeds & How To Get Rid of Them

I've lived in my house for 6 years and have fought these stupid things from day one. No matter what I do they always come back. I'm usually having to mow the weeds and not the lawn just so that my yard does not look ghetto. Can anyone tell me what kind they are and how I can get rid of them? I'm too the point where I thinking about ripping up all the sod and laying down new stuff but that is going to be really expensive since I live on a corner lot and have a lot of yard. Any other ideas? Preferably something that is somewhat affordable. Thanks!

i dont know what those are, but damn you have a lot of them. pull a couple and take them to lowes or wherever and i bet they can tell you what to apply to get rid of them.

    god bless.

I assume you tried weed and feed...

What is working OKAY for me this year is a couple coats of seed, the rain and mowing my grass low weekly.

I mean, both my neighbors have a lot of weeds and then the rabbit crap is passing it too. However, the grass can help choke it out and the grass will stay strong (Bermuda) cut short while weeds get a little shock.

In my mind, that helps the grass overtake the weeds. It's working so far, at least compared to last year.

I was going to try overseeding this year. That is the one thing I have not done yet. I was going to wait until early September to do that since that seemed to be the time frame most recommended after a Google search. The only down side is I have to put up with these things for another summer while I wait on the right time of year to overseed.

I'm not green thumb kind of person. Last year was the first year I started to care for some reason.

Anyway, I've put down seed twice this year and after each seeding you could see a difference. Took about 3 weeks, but the rain seems to be helping with it. Although I've only done 1 weed and feed coat, then a week later (after a rain for the weed and feed) I followed up with the first seed and I just did another seed about a week before the last storm system.

Nothing heavy, just a light sprinkle over the yard. It seems to me that the bermuda grass grows pretty quick.

This year we've had a lot of rain, supposedly the bermuda with thrive in the heat with a little water - and help even more to choke out weeds.

I'm relying on this method since I don't want to over do the weed and feed side. Which I may put another coat of that down this weekend. Not sure.

Agree with Randy. When I saw your pics above I immediately thought that it was the stem/seeds for your current grass. Not a weed.
