  • How to kill a "weed tree"

Ive had this pita since i moved in.. i cut it down a few times when it was small and not it has gotten out of control.. its on my driveway and it drips sap all over my cars. I've drilled holes in it and put round up in it like home depot said.. that shit didnt work..

What have you done to effectively of a crappy weed tree.. its inches away from my fence so burning it isnt an option

Cut it and cover the fresh cut with salt. Very effective, but don't salt poison too much around it. The salty ground is better plant control than roundup, but it takes a while for the rain to wash it away.

        Good luck.

There is a product you can get at Tractor Supply that you mix with some diesel fuel and spray on the stump. It designed to kill Mesquite trees and if will do that it will damn sure kill that.

Remedy or Remequel. That shit is expensive. You dilute it with water, though, not diesel.

ok well i cut it down last year, drilled holes in it, poured stump killer in it, also poured diesel fuel over it, AND its growing back... has anyone ever heard of pouring tar over a stump?

Grind the stump and dig the roots out. BTW what kind of tree is it?

I got some stuff at Home Depot last year that killed my weed tree. When I cut it down originally it started popping up at all the roots everywhere and where I cout it down. It is in storage right now so I do not remember the name. It had like a big q-tip applicator on the end of it. You have to shave a layer off the tree like you had just cut it down and apply it to the face of it. Worked great. I also had drilled some holes and filled them up with it. Took about three months before it was dead.

Salt works really good. cut it down, drill holes in the top fill them with salt and put some salt where the roots are. The only true way to kill it is to chop it down and stump grind it.

If you used the Round Up from Home Depot or Lowes, it is not strong enough. Get some of the super concentrated Round Up that is sold at Tractor Supply or farm stores. It sells for about $ 100.00 for 2 1/2 gallons. All you need is about a pint. Maybe you can get a little in a fruit jar from someone who buys the big jugs. Your favorite auto salvage yard probably has some. They use lots of it for weed and grass control around the cars. Drill as big a hole as you can in the stump (Or several if the stump is big) and go at least 6 inches deep. You may have to treat it more that once to kill the roots. The more root stock that is down there, the longer it takes.
