  • how to figure sq ft of metal building walls

I can't seem to find the formula and trying to figure out how many sq ft I have for the spray foam insulation.

Also if anyone has any advice on a fair price that would be great too.

    building is 40x20x12 with a 4:12 pitch

has one normal walk door and a 12x10 garage door.

    thanks for any advice!

Are you counting the roof? I am getting 1300-1400 without the roof which would be 800 more even if it were flat. I just can't figure out how to use the pitch of the roof to measure actual sqft

A 4/12 is not enough to really worry about. I'm thinking 15% over a flat roof.

Your right on the money. What are you being quoted per sq/ft?

A good friend of mine does spray fiberglass and recently won a bid on a large church. They wanted the foam until they got the estimates. I think he said he was almost half the price for bats/spraying fiberglass. It was a large metal building, well over 10k sq/ft, with 24' outside walls. My friend did spray a shop with the large containers you can purchase online. It was around $.75 a sq though.

I'd glue 1 or 2" polystyrene to the metal panels. You should be able to do that for under $.50 a ft.
