Sorry, gust of wind got it, hit the fucking mosque again. If we had the money to bomb you with pricey JDAM's we would. But the conversion kits are outside of our budget!

They were never banned, and we still use them sparingly. Usually it is a precision bomb that drops clusters.

It just costs a fortune to carpet bomb something, and even then you might not hit what you wanted. Even worse, you might hit something you absolutely did not want to. If they put an arms factory right next to the POW camp, do you really want to miss the intended target?

In theory, precision bombing something is cheaper; 1 shot, 1 kill, so to speak. Only problem is that 1 cluster bomb probably costs in the hundreds of dollars, a precision laser guided bomb costs in the hundreds of thousands. The LANTIRN system that they use on F-15s and F-16s cost 3 million per unit I believe, plus repair of parts when they break, plus the cost of the test stations to fix them, also priced in the millions. Hell, I remember there were single circuit cards that cost $30,000 each.

My point is precision bombing was supposed to be cheaper and more effective, but when you factor in the "hidden" costs they really aren't that much cheaper. But they work well, allowing us to blow up whatever we want without having to "spray and pray". They also allow a couple of F-16s to do the same job that a squadron of B-29s and P-51s could accomplish.

I think we should reallocate the military to the rural places in these countries. Keep those places in check.

Then for the city area, we should deploy DPD for the policing missions. Most would end up in prison or beat down.

I'm not partial to the Good Conduct medal for the same reason. I guess they want to reward the knuckleheads for not being so knuckle headed.

The only reason I thought the GCM was good is for the young folks like I was...you only get 1 right? I agree, it should just be part of the course, but I did not think it was a bad thing.

This to me is insane.

I had an NCO who dropped a brick on his foot and then put in for a purple heart. Since he was the S shop guy, I bet he got it too
