I wrote bank of America a letter saying that if they were just going to let anyone in the world charge my credit card when I bought nothing, then I didn't need them for shit and I'd be closing my account without paying what was due. They tried letting some scamming free ipod company start drawing 12 bucks a month from me. I have no fucking idea how or why. I have my computer on such lockdown that I never even see that stuff, let alone click on it and fill out some kind of form.

In the letter I was cursing at them and telling them that if they didn't reverse the charges I'd tell anyone who ever asked not to bank with them and warn others away from them for the rest of my life. In a couple weeks I checked my account and they had fully reversed all charges. Came to around 200 bucks that scam company had leeched off of me somehow. I never even had to talk to some tool on the phone for 3 hours. I just mailed them a letter. It was the letter that they had sent me to fill out and mail back to them to contest the charges, but they had sent me another letter in the meantime saying that they could see no reason to reverse the charges and would not be doing so. So I went off on them and got results. I got no sympathy and no love for banks. If I ever even get a hint of a way to bypass banks, I'll never use them again in my life.

If you ever figure this out let me know. I really like my current bank, but it's not like I'd be heartbroken for the relationship to end.

I've got about half a dozen, honestly, but I've also been with them since 1985 when my parents opened the account for me as a kid. They've made me furious enough for my eyes to wobble a couple of times, but 6 times out of 26 years probably isn't so bad. Most of it has all been within the last 5 years though. It seems to be getting worse, but it is in direct proportion to everything else that is getting more and more ridiculous, so I don't know how the hell to quantify it. I keep thinking about switching, but the alternatives probably aren't much of an improvement, and they have helped me on a few occasions as well.

One little change could solve the government employee problem. Make all government jobs other than police and firemen pay only minimum wage. Problem solved at once. And, all those wonderful highly dedicated public servants could be released from bondage to seek their fortunes in the private sector.

Great idea, except now you have the morons that fuck up your order at Burger King working your taxes, or registering your car, getting your DL, etc. They can't get a burger and fries correct, imagine what they are going to do with your tax return!

Well there is the one way, keeping all cash, which we all already know about of course. But its damn risky. That is the only reason I don't do it. Though someday, I might start. I do have a couple of low interest credit cards though, that I don't really have a problem with. I can't really see a reason to get rid of them since I need to stay in the credit world since that is the world that we all must live in. As for the banks though, I was thinking of installing like a hidden floor safe or something and just turning the bulk of my money into gold bars. Then banks can go suck it. Still keep like a 3 or 4 grand in a savings account for day to day use and billpaying, but stick the nestegg in gold in the floor. As long as you never told a soul you did it, even if your house got robbed, it would likely still be there. Only idea I've come up with so far lol, and its not really original.

Not to mention you just told a shitload of people about it, and since computer smart people can trace your IP address I'd say it's a pretty risky move now.....

Great idea! It would solve that one wage problem completely!

Of course it would create about 45,000 other problems, but at least we wouldn't have that one to worry about any more. Thanks, Oppenheimer.

Heh, well they could probably trace most people's IP address. Not mine. I'm one of those computer people myself, and I value my privacy.

I'm sure the right person could trace yours. I'm no computer genius, but I don't think it is impossible to figure out where you are located. I'm sure there are people that could find you easily enough. The only sure way to not get traced on the internet is to not use the internet.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Oh yeah. But none of those people are here or will ever read this. Just like the right car thief could disable lojack and the rest of my antitheft devices. I'll probably never get my car stolen by that guy though, as they are few and far between.
