a scoop of creatine and some b vitamins and you're good...

this is an absolute waste of money to appeal to people who are already wasting money

Where does it stop? People getting education grants need to be tested? People getting federal home loans need to be tested? How about tax deductions, that is free, do the people getting them need to be tested?

        As I said, slippery slope.

interesting you say that... we drug test people at our hospital and I dont think its that easy to beat our analyzers. We get plenty of positives

I think we should also drug test medicaid recipients

they use cheap tests for pre-employment screens (typically)

you may get plenty of positives, but are they considered "legal" positives? a very small percentage is allowable... if you severely dilute your urine by drinking so much water that you're essentially pissing pure water, it's easy to hit legal limits.

this often yields a "diluted sample" result which is not a pass, but not a positive either. I have heard of people getting violated or threat of violation of probation for too many diluted samples.

upping your creatine brings those levels into a "normal" level, and the b-vitamins give the urine a yellow tint... all of a sudden you've got "urine" instead of water

Felony probation in Dallas County is as hard as it gets. And I beat them for five years. Easy as pie.

I agree with this in theory. And I think assistance expenditures in Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar, etc will drop by 40ish%, IF they did random follicle testing. However, it presents a new set of problems. Crime rates will increase drastically, jails will overflow even more, etc.

Dilluted for probation/parole are now treated as dirty. One diluted gets a warning, two gets you violated. They would have to adhere to those guidelines for assistance UAs or it would never work and be a waste of money.

<--- went through it several years ago. When trying to figure ou the balance of water intake, b vitamins, etc, I turned in two that were diluted, early on in the process. The second time, they held me at the office for 7 hours, and during that time I submitted 3 UAs. For good measure I suppose. They were just doing their jobs. But man she was pissed! Literally!

Banks check you out to see if you're good enough for a loan. 'We finance' car lots do credit checks to see if you are just some deadbeat that's going to steal or trash their car. If you're going to get free money, why is it wrong to make sure you're not just some lowlife that is taking advantage of the situation? If you need unemployment then you don't have enough money for drugs. Its the principle of the thing. I would have had no problem with getting a drug test when I was on unemployment cause I'm not some shitty druggie.

At this point it seems like it is more of a punitive measure than about safety, which was the original reasoning.

What is next, the Fed taking your fingerprints and DNA just to check and see if you have done anything wrong lately? Searches of your property just to see if you have anything illegal?

                                Let me ask this.

How many of you think unemployment is a hand-out or welfare?
