  • Here comes the condemnation of UN NFZ

Moussa said the Arab League’s approval of a no-fly zone on March 12 was based on a desire to prevent Moammar Gaddafi’s air force from attacking civilians and was not designed to endorse the intense bombing and missile attacks — including on Tripoli, the capital, and on Libyan ground forces

It's like Afghanistan all over again. A President says that regime change needs to happen on its own and then turns around within the next year and begins instituting regime change with US forces, the Arab League calls for military action and then turns around and immediately condemns it, and yet again we'll be left with our pants down around our ankles.

The Arab League knew full well what the No-Fly Zone would entail; all of the major news outlets made it abundantly clear that it would involve bombing and destruction of key sites before it could be enforced. The Arab League simply wants more power and knows regime change is the way to do it, but they didn't want to be on the hook for the actual provocation of said regime change. This way they get to save face with their people and have someone else to blame for the 'problems'. It's a lot like watching our government at work.

You mean you can't just fly over and let the AA shoot at you?

News flash, the USA gets shit on no matter what happens. It's either, "How can you just sit there and watch the news while civilians die?" or "Get out of our business and leave us alone."

I'd like to choose the option that doesn't cost taxpayers money.

I don't, I wish we would engage in random missile strikes to remind them of who not to fuck with.

Exactly. This is Europe's problem, not ours.

And the answer to this is, "They aren't our civilians."
