I use to go up to addison all the time, but it has been on a decline the last couple years.
seriously?? Dallas does not even have a decent bar scene anymore.

        • When I go into a restaurant with a smoking section, I have to admit that I rarely smell the smoke from the smoking section. They always have those big things on the ceiling that do a pretty good job of siphoning it off before it wafts over to the other side. Plus you could set up the building in a way that makes it harder for smoke to travel over there. Bars are going to be another matter of course, but I never really had a problem with it in restaurants.

Because lung problems and liver problems are 2 different things. If I decide to go to a bar and sit next to a guy with liver disease, his constant drinking has zero affect on me.

However, if I go to a bar and sit next to a lung cancer patient chain smoking Marlboro Red's, his choice to ruin his lungs could send me into an asthma attack. I should be able to go to any public place with no consequence or risk to my health UNLESS that establishment is meant for that purpose, like a cigar bar, etc.

Unless the bar specifically is a smoke free bar, it IS one of those kind of bars. And it should be up to the bar owner if he/she wants the bar to be smoke-free, not the state. If you want to go to a smoke-free bar, go to one, pretty damn simple.

I think you misread what i wrote. I meant the same people who are bitching about smoking in bars, go to the bar and fuck their own liver up. Its not like its a church or a family place lol its a BAR

Hey look, something we agree on! I'm a smoker, and all the bars/restaurants that I go to (Lewisville/Denton) allow smoking. I CHOOSE to go to places that allow smoking, and they are all VERY busy. It would be just as easy for me to choose to go somewhere that didn't allow smoking. I really don't see why it is so hard for some people. If you really like going to one bar in particular, but you don't like smelling the smoke... guess what? You don't really like that bar.

                    • How about an extra tax on cigarettes with the sole intention of offsetting the costs of putting in better ventilation to handle the smoke in these bars?

<------Nonsmoker who wishes to own a pool hall that would allow smoking.

                      • I don't think any *extra* tax is needed, just better use of the taxes that are already there.

That's actually less logical than my statement, in the eyes of the government.

                            • I sure hope you guys get this matter resolved quickly. There are other issues that need to be addressed, like whether or not pit bulls should be banned and how much one should tip the to-go guy.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
