Well it's coming up. Please take a look at this page and scroll down a bit to the first actual post. I pasted the relevant info below in case you don't wanna, but that's where I got it. (yeah I suck at facebook's shitty website) All you guys complaining about property tax - Well now is the time to do your part. Contact the reps on facebook and/or via email. All their info is below. Personally I'm sick of this shit, and unless we actually do something, it's only going to keep getting worse.

Use the list below to contact our Seven prior Coauthors. Ask them to Coauthor HB209 in the 2nd Special Session.

Right now, we have ONLY ONE HB209 Coauthor, Representative Cody Thane Vasut. And we only have until Sunday, before the 2nd Special Session ends. I’m certain there will be a 3rd. But there is no guarantee the Governor will include Property Tax.
We have to act now.

Facebook can be one of the most effective (and fastest) ways to get our Legislators' attention. Make your calls, send your emails, but if you can, hit them where it counts. On Facebook.

Our Legislators pay attention to comments. Why? Because they are not an email or phone call that only goes to a staff member. Constituents can all read them, too.

PRO TIP: To get their attention, use their Facebook name. Using their @Name will “tag” the Legislator in Facebook, alerting them that you mentioned them in your comment. It can be a little tricky getting this to work, but give it a go.

WARNING: Facebook will remove all of your comments as Spam if you use the exact same message to each legislator.
PRO TIP: The bots trigger point is around 5. Change a little spelling, order, and/or content of the message in a couple to avoid bots recognizing and removing them.

A new state income tax? They're going to get the money from somewhere...

I would rather see a state income tax. At least that way you aren't paying the high property taxes into retirement when there's no more salary coming in.

property taxes are not a problem except for the greedy ass public school system . take away robinhood and we would be fine . our tiny little school sends texas well over half a million every year to be squandered in south texas . if our taxes mirrored our budget it would cut them in half .

Not willingly, but you get enough people breathing down their necks and they'll do what they're told. Many examples of this. If they won't, they've been thrown out before and replaced with people who did what they were told. It all depends on how mad people get. I've been seeing shit everywhere about how the property taxes are getting out of control. People getting pissed off and talking about it more, moves things in that direction.

They're a huge problem because you don't own your land. Yeah sure there's imminent domain and all that but 1. It's damned unlikely and 2. One less way the government can take your land = Freedom returned to you. It's also the main reason land gets taken (stolen) from people by the government. Most likely they didn't pay the taxes because they couldn't. If no taxes, well, that land will sit around in their name for a hell of a lot longer. Years, decades.

Another reason they're a problem is that government will abuse any tax. They're not going to stop using it for the school system, but even if they did, they'd just start using it again for something else later on. They'll come up with some need for more money, even if they have to invent one.

Anyone wondering where all the money would go - It's called private schools. The human dildos that run the school system have already proven they're unworthiness by indoctrinating the kids with things like "critical race theory" and the rest of their trash. They haven't got any business with that money. Transition over to private schooling. Help kill social studies, and re institute civics.

They're spending over 30 million to widen it right now. Are they adding extra lanes? Nope. Just a shoulder.

Just to nit-pick a little - I think you're correct with the roads. Stadiums - most of them (new schools...etc...etc.) come from bonds voted for by an area an ISD covers.

I live in an ISD where I know for a fact they are stingy with spending (Salaries, stadiums, addons/pluses) and I'm paying a LOT in property taxes. I always wonder where that money is going. (new schools still go to bond vote)

My bride to be is 22; I am 50. What you're describing works for some but it will not work for me. I would much rather continue paying property taxes in Texas versus filing an income tax return in Texas.

I'd rather up the sales tax and have neither. Maybe even make the taxes higher on the vices, legalize weed and use those taxes to get rid of property taxes and not have a state income tax either.
