China is starting to piss a lot of people off. (South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, US, Australia, India etc.)

There is bound to be conflict in the near future.

He said that their population is increasing by 8% every year. How long can they contain that before they absolutely have to go to war for new territory and resources? Giant populations need things. If I were the Chinese government, I'd say "Look, no one is having kids for 3 years." Let some of the old people die off and stave off some of that need to go to war. Or maybe they could do it for longer, say 10 or 15 years. It wouldn't bother me if I was chinese and the gov't said that.

I took part in a RimPac exercise back in *cough* 96.

It was definitely impressive, the armada we had going, even then.
Also, for a long time, Australia has considered China to be it's #1 threat, by a long shot. The Aussies we were working with said, more than once, that they wished/hoped the Chinese could see what was going on.
