WASHINGTON (AP) -- A senior U.S. official says the United States has concluded that Russia knew in advance of Syria's chemical weapons attack last week.
The official says a Russian-operated drone flew over a hospital in Syria as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment.
Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons.

(One of our resident aviation gurus might need to correct this, but...)
When used by Russia they were Su-17s but when exported later they were Su-22s. Russia stopped flying the -17 in 1998. They -22s are still flown by Syria, however.Last edited by Strychnine; 04-10-2017, 03:03 PM.

Why would Assad gas anyone?
If he wanted 72 Syrian people dead, that's just a little bit of ammunition, and the international community wouldn't bother responding to him killing a few of his own people. Awful, yes, but not going to get a response in a country engaged in a hardcore civil war. Break out the WMD and you get a response.
I really have no idea what's going on or what to make of it. I smell bullshit though. When the government pays, the government controls.

His statement was "You cavemen blast the shit out of each other all you want but we won't stand by while you try to become the next Hitler".
I think it was the appropriate response considering we really don't want to get involved in the civil war beyond supplying a few weapons and the obvious collateral involvement resulting from our attacks on ISIS.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

I think Trump knew this and made a statement with his attack.
