The fourth possibility is one that until recently I would have said was unthinkable in the United States of America: a military coup, or at least a refusal by military leaders to obey certain orders.
Surely Pence wants to be president himself one day, right? Pence isn’t exactly a political moderate — he’s been unremittingly hostile to gay rights, he’s a climate change skeptic, etc. — but, unappealing as his politics may be to many Americans, he does not appear to actually be insane. Impeachment is certainly a possibility (however unlikely). IMO it can even happen under a Republican controlled house, however the likelihood of a conviction is next to zero in the Senate. It's just not happening.

The Dem's best bet is to clean up in 2018. There were 90 million people that didn't vote in the last election. IMO they'll need 90% or better turnout in contested states to have a shot at gaining enough seats to pull it off. Normally I'd say that ain't happening, but then again, a year ago I would have said a Trump Presidency ain't happening.
