I too, have entertained what you pose about the potential for them(foreign drivers) to go rogue and cause a considerable amount of harm.

Man, some of them have pretty bitchin' trucks though. I was in commercial vehicle finance for over 10 years, and some of those husband / wife teams had almost every luxury of home in their 10' plus sleepers and Harley's between the sleeper and trailer. Of course those trucks were pushing $200k or more, sans trailer.
Lea and I have actually discussed that as an option for a few years after she retires (husband / wife driving team).. Get out and see the country.

I drive for mbm/mclanes just delivering Chick-fil-A in Tx and Ok. In the last few years foreigners have taken over the OTR jobs ( which is fine cause I would never do otr) but almost 0 in the service and delivery type driving jobs. Kind of odd it's exclusively one side of the business. Though almost every otr guy that we hire quits within a week because of how much physical work we do.Detailing is an Obsession!!

Obviously this is just a big maybe at this point, but something we may consider.

I wouldn't buy a truck like that, personally. In fact, probably wouldn't even be an owner operator, at least not the first year or two. But even at that, pulling in $80k a year as a team and keeping busy would be nice for a few years..

The husband wife team I was talking about goes from JFK-CMH-DFW-LAX-JFK and repeat. They are off and home 2 days a week.
