The husband wife team I was talking about goes from JFK-CMH-DFW-LAX-JFK and repeat. They are off and home 2 days a week.
That's pretty excellent to have such a good routine.

LOL! Me too. I was like "WTF, Eric?"

A lot of these "undesirable" jobs like that, are going to be going away soon enough. Self checkouts at walmart. Self driving trucks. Ipads at Mcdonalds instead of clerks. It all seems to be going automated. Well, its seems like it will be eventually anyway. But where are the low end workers going to work?

Why be worried about immigrants taking the job when autonomous trucks will be taking the jobs in 10 years.

They'll have one operator/admin for 10 or so trucks, then an AI will take over the whole shipping operation.

The new money will be in the service centers that can refill the trucks and provide repairs to the autonomous systems

Currently the trucks can only self drive when on a freeway and under specific conditions. Drivers aren't losing jobs yet.

As for the rest. If your job can be performed by an app you might want to look for a better one.

I owe a rework warehouse facility. I fix problem loads like shifting or overweights...anything with a freight problem related.

I deal with many angry drivers because they got refused at their delivery. Like anyone some are good or some are bad. However with GPS in different languages the requirement to speak any English is null and void. When GPS fails because of construction and the driver has to call in for directions its like a repetitive kick in the nuts.

Self driving trucks may be the future but its along way off from driving in Dallas Fort Worth traffic and construction.

Lots more to the job than just driving. It's a lot of work. It will make you old before your time. Raise your hand if you have ever experienced a problem with a sensor or a computer. If it's man made it will screw up. Nobody is perfect and nothing you ever create or design will be either.

Cheap drivers aren't skilled and skilled drivers aren't cheap.

I started OTR driving in 2003. Since then the influx of foreign drivers that can't speak English is mind-boggling.
They are the worst ones on the road. They cause the most problems at either end of the job.

Sadly, there is only one way to fight it. Pay the price for the better company.
Unfortunately, companies like the one I'm with are constantly being underbid by the unskilled, filthy drivers you're upset with.

No way in hell would I do this job for $60k a year.
