  • Anybody hear about CocaCola going to China?

Wife's co-worker's husband works for Coke Bottling Co in Midland. Got called in today for a meeting. The company is closing all 16 bottling plants in the US and moving to China. Essentially, theyve been taxed and regulated out of business.

Complete horseshit. They just spent $30 million upgrading a bottling facility in the Northeast.

Not only that but how in the hell would you ship bottles of Coke halfway around the world and make a profit? There is a reason why they have regional bottling operations all over the world for something that sells for pennies per serving.

I don't think that Coke owns the majority of their bottlers, sounds like a BS rumor to me.

If it happened I would never drink a Coke product again. Not because it went to China, but because the goddamned Chinese poison so much shit.

Please do. The more I talked to the Mrs, it sounds like a Coca Cola bottler with multiple locations is closing up shop and heading to China.

I didn't think they owned ANY of their bottlers, I thought they licensed all the bottling out.

The company produces concentrate, which is then sold to licensed Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the world. The bottlers, who hold territorially exclusive contracts with the company, produce finished product in cans and bottles from the concentrate in combination with filtered water and sweeteners. The bottlers then sell, distribute and merchandise Coca-Cola to retail stores and vending machines.

I'm sure Al or Slow99 would know better than me, but wouldn't a large multi-national corp be able to use the Double Irish Arrangement/Dutch sandwhich to reduce US corporate tax liability anyways?
