I feel compelled to respond since clearly this is a shot at me (for whatever reason). I can't recall a drug problem directly countered with what appears to be an unsanctioned death penalty. From my very brief and shallow knowledge of the drug problem in a small pacific country, I understand the problem is quite severe. I don't know the specifics. The last time I read an article about the elected president he was essentially killing off drug dealers. The new reports he's going after users and anyone who is accused is new to me. In any respect, the method with which he is attempting to rout this problem is fascinating. Now, I'm not the moral/social police. I don't feel compelled to be the world's police. The specific interest this has to me is the method, as mentioned before. You clearly seem to have some personal attachment to the idea that I don't. I'm not saying I support or condone anything. I'm not advocating for this with door to door petitions. I simply expressed interest in such a uncharacteristic method.

One of the things that keeps me on this board is the ability to express ones opinions, however controversial, without having to explain the obvious (that I'm not advocating blanket summary executions for the population) that fragile faggots on other boards would take offense to.

I wasn't directing that at you, or anyone specifically. Just in general that people dislike our drug war, yet seem supportive of another one. I have family there, but no personal connection to this issue as none of them have been affected. I have just found it interesting to follow, but I definitely do not like or agree with his methods. And please keep expressing opinions, I enjoy these dicussions we can have on here that you can't seem to elsewhere.

Obama's framing of Duterte's drug war as a human rights problem, which it doubtless is, missed a key dimension. The drug war is the symptom of a national security problem: the narco invasion of the Philippines. The killings are a result and not the cause in themselves of the problem. And now that the diplomatic breach has opened the door to Chinese subversion on an unprecedented scale with incalculable consequences to regional security it is likely to get worse.

The Era of Hope and Change has been one prolonged act of suicide. If anyone had said that Obama would manage to alienate Israel and the Philippines, lose Turkey, pay Iran a hundred billion dollars, preside over the loss of a won war in Afghanistan, lose billions of dollars in military equipment to ISIS, watch a consulate burn, restart the Cold War with Russia, cause Japan to re-arm and go the knife's edge with China would you have believed it? If someone had told you in 2008 millions of refugees would be heading for Europe and that the UK would leave the EU after Obama went there to campaign for them to remain would you not have laughed?

He promised "smart diplomacy" and the restoration of American prestige in the world. How did it come to this?

obammy was elected the first time because he was a novelty to many primarily as the first negro candidate and secondly because he could read and recite BS speeches well off a Teleprompter. Re-elected because his opponent, Romney, was (and still is) a sack of shit.

It appears that Duterte, who believes in killing all illegal drug smugglers, dealers, and users, has been abusing prescription painkillers like fentynal for some time. Good for me but not for thee.

Isn't that often the case? Like the most extreme gay-haters really just overly compensating for their own homosexual feelings.

Yeah it usually is, or at least seems that way. Kind of surprised it was pinkillers and not lines of coke.

Why doesn't he just go libertarian and say "Do whatever the hell you want. Drugs are legal here". Kind of hard for organized crime rings to operate, when they're selling drugs out of vending machines.
