Reading some of the articles where German citizens are being quoted as it was the right decision to accept refugees, but better background checks should have been performed.

No, no it wasn't the right decision to let them in. It was a gigantic fucking mistake. It's kinda hard to do a through background check on someone who lives in an area where it's not much different than it was 2500 years ago.
