Hell, my first unit, we were up on a detachment to Astoria, OR. 7 white dudes and one black one ("Crawdaddy"). We all go in to little store to buy beer. Crawdaddy is last to the register. He comes out of the store empty handed. He said the clerk said they didn't sell to blacks because they cause trouble when they drink. Seven white dudes marched into that store and showed that mother fucker what trouble was.
Crawdaddy got his beer, and we taught a racist a painful lesson.
I could see it being an issue in POG units but that shit don't happen on the front lines.

True. When you genuinely depend on the guys around you, ain't no time for that shit.

That's exactly what I would expect of my fellow sailors. Good job!

We discussed this the next day. His tactics were sound and I think with the buildings, echo's and shit it just caused mass confusion.

In any event, the article makes decent points, the police are not equipped or trained to counter military tactics.
Depends on the officers and their Chief. A few departments train somewhat similar to the military now. He just came up behind them and it took a bit for people to figure out what was going on. Our Chief was a ex swat commander and loves everything Paul Howe. He has had several of us read his books and sent guys to his camp in east Texas to bring back into firearms training. If you ever get a chance to read Leadership and Training for the fight you should. Great book and his tactics are sound. We 10 times the training under this guy then the prior admin. It was just go out and punch some holes in a target. Now we do downed officer training, active shooter classes, moving and shooting, tourniquet training, hostage shoots, live drills you name it. Guy wants you to be as nice as you can be, but he wants you prepared to win if it comes to that.
          Whos your Daddy?

Makes sense and probably true in a lot of small and medium cities depending on the chief and his budget. At my prior company we owned the building that housed DPD's training facility. If you visited there you realized very quickly that they would take just about anyone, a lot of those people should not be police officers. The officers who were killed were obviously not those types of folks, one being an ex Ranger, but I think when you hire those types of people you have to water down your training so the bar is low enough.
