Having a job like a cop where most hate your guts it's not easy to just hang it up. When you do that it shows that you allowed the haters to win. Helping the public but getting treated like shit daily is not easy but someone has to do it

This isn't about winning or losing. I have done my time. It is just time for someone else to step in.

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) – June was not a good month for staffing at the Dallas Police Department. The Dallas Police Association says nearly 50 officers resigned over the past month to take jobs in other North Texas cities.

Over the last month, Mike Mata of the Dallas Police Association says there have been 48 defections of Police officers from the city of Dallas, officers who were trained on the city of Dallas’s dime who have found better paying jobs elsewhere.

Mata says this kind of ‘mass exodus’ has not been seen in a long time. He believes it’s due to a combination of low pay and low morale that are behind it.

“I’ve been doing this for over 20-years, I’ve never seen it like this” said Mata. “48 is a very high number for a month.”

While the Dallas Police Department said it is aware of the resignations, nobody was available to comment.

It is because their starting pay is 10k a year less than other dpts

Thank you, officers, for your service. Your dedication is genuinely appreciated. Dallas and the rest of the nation are sick with grief over this horrifying event. The nation is really listening. I'm out of state this week, and even here, a few states away from home, the outcry is audible! This movement against you is evil and doomed.
I serve in "criminal prevention" and generally identify with you--dealing with a disgruntled fraction of the populace....I always regard the work you do. You are the true heroes--not some comic-- and I make sure my "kiddos" know it. You are regarded. When you make an arrest on the side of the road, I watch to make sure you are safe. If I do that, tons of people do. You are the pride of your families and your community loves you.
