The FBI boss must explain why no charges were brought against Hillary Clinton over her email use, as the US attorney general ends the investigation.

FBI chief James Comey faces questions over Clinton emails

House Republicans have called FBI Director James Comey to testify about Hillary Clinton's use of private email as secretary of state.

On Tuesday, the FBI recommended Mrs Clinton, the likely Democratic presidential nominee, should not face criminal charges in the matter. However, Mr Comey said Mrs Clinton and her staff were "extremely careless" in handling classified materials. Over 100 classified messages were found on her email servers, the FBI said. Mrs Clinton had previously said she had not knowingly sent or received classified material from her private email account.

Mr Comey will testify on Thursday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, led by Republican Jason Chaffetz. "The FBI's recommendation is surprising and confusing," Mr Chaffetz said. "The fact pattern presented by Director Comey makes clear Secretary Clinton violated the law," he said. "Individuals who intentionally skirt the law must be held accountable."

Analysis - Anthony Zurcher, BBC News, Washington

The charge that the former secretary of state was "extremely careless" would not have nearly the same impact if it came from a Republican politician. In fact, many conservatives have tried tagging Mr Clinton with much, much worse.

Instead the man delivering the very public rebuke is a career law enforcement official with a sterling reputation for rectitude and probity. Videos of Comey's statement have already found their way into a Republican attack advert - with many more sure to come.

The FBI's key findings about Mrs Clinton's emails:
    - It is possible that "hostile actors" gained access to Mrs Clinton's email account
    - There were more than 100 emails that contained classified information when they were sent or received, contrary to her claim she never sent classified emails
    - But there was no evidence she had knowingly shared sensitive material
    - She did not delete emails in an effort to conceal them

The email scandal has become a key political talking point, with Republicans saying Mrs Clinton thinks she is above the law. Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump called the decision "very unfair" and said it was proof that they system was rigged.

Mrs Clinton said she had set up the email address for reasons of convenience, because it had been easier to do everything from one device than to have several phones or tablets. She later apologised for using the private email system, calling it "a mistake".

House Speaker Paul Ryan said it appears that Mrs Clinton was given preferential treatment by the FBI, and the purpose of the hearing is to try to answer a number of questions about the inquiry. He questioned whether Mrs Clinton could receive classified briefings as a presidential candidate following the release of the FBI's findings.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch has also been called to testify before the committee on 12 July.

Hopefully it's the "not fucking around guys" asking questions.

Gowdy and the boys put on a good show during the Benghazi investigation but what came of that? Nothing...... Yet.

Comey's address yesterday was puzzling. He spent 14 minutes laying out everything Hillary and her staff did that was illegal, even going as far to show that she perjured herself under oath and then opined that there should be no prosecution. His job is to lay out the findings of the investigation and leave it to the prosecutor to determine whether charges are warranted or not. Then there's the Clinton Foundation......... It may be wishful thinking but I don't think she is in the clear just yet.

If you read that thread SBFordTech posted the FBI found shit goes so deep that they can't prosecute without prosecuting almost all of Washington and risking war with China and Russia. Is it true? I dunno but I wouldn't put it past the scumbag Clintons and others to be so corrupt as to pull off this sort of crooked shit for money and personal gain.

          Moral of the story:

If you do a little treason, that's your problem, and the govt will come for that ass. If you do a metric fuckton of treason, that's the governments problem and they'll provide the broom and rug to solve it- at taxpayer expense.

Kind of... The thread mentions that they are trying to cherry pick the evidence so prosetuon can be applied to key participants. If they were to go in whole hog everything gets burned to the ground with it.

Civil war is the next to last thing I want. The last thing I want is to live under a growing ruling class of elected officials and bureaucrats who believe and act like they are above the law, openly vote to surrender our nations sovereignty to global courts, and surrender powers of one branch of government to another. To live under weaponized bureaucracies like the IRS who target conservative and Christian businesses and organizations, or the BLM who causes hardships on western landowners and seizes properties, or the EPA that over regulates and causes undue burdens for certain industries for political and capital gain, or a department of Justice that disperses weapons to drug cartels and terrorist organizations to be used against American citizens when they have "lost track of them". There are 72 armed agencies in this country including the dept Of education and the social security admin. WTF?! Obama stated that he wanted a nationalized civilian police force, it's here and it's been here. Billions of dollars worth of guns, ammo, gear, and fucking MRAPS have been funneled into these unelected bureaucracies. Did you know that the patriot act gave FBI agents authority to write their own secret warrants to be served on an individual's financial institutions. Yea, no judge. Then, a short couple years later, hidden inside a defense spending authorization act the senate snuck in a new definition of Financial institution to include your telephone, computer, bodega, and more. Judge Andrew Napolitano has spoken and written in great detail about the wonderful patriot act. The government that you elected is held accountable to NO ONE. They fear NO ONE.

If the evils committed by the people we elected are so atrocious that it led to civil war so be it. We the people are just as culpable for allowing it to happen.

100% this. If the only thing left is "The People," then we start over by the same rules this country was built upon.
